Aloha Medical Mission (AMM) is a Honolulu-based secular, nonprofit, volunteer organization
that provides free health care to underserved people overseas and in Hawaii.

Dr. Craig Thomas and his wife, Susan Scott, from the Aloha Medical Mission,
which was founded in 1983 by members of the Philippine Medical Association
of Hawaii to provide free and voluntary medical, surgical and other health-related services.
Dr. Craig Thomas is a veteran of 13 overseas medical missions where he brought much
needed medical care to hundreds of patients throughout the Philippines, Vanuatu, and China.Ê
Susan Scott, his wife and a nurse, has been part of the team on these missions.Ê
As a well-known Star-Bulletin columnist on environmental topics,
Susan has helped publicize AMM and its missions throughout the years.Ê
Together, they are responsible for organizing the Bangladesh AMM Clinics.Ê
In 1997, AMM volunteers created the first permanent clinic in Dhaka, Bangladesh which does not
include three separate clinics. Local volunteers ran the clinic, while Hawaii
volunteers support it financially. Craig and Susan travel there
annually to assess progress and needs, and the clinic continues to
thrive under their management, providing volunteer recruitment and fundraising efforts.
Dr. Thomas has a BA in Zoology and a MD from the University of Washington.
He is Board certified in Emergency Medicine and Family Practice and currently the
President of the Hawaii Emergency Physicians Associated.
