Linda arrived in Honolulu in 1969 after receiving her BA in Broadcast Journalism from the University of Oregon. Linda was the very first woman television news anchor in the nation. She anchored and reported for KGMB News and spent ten years in the radio booth with KSSKs Perry and Price. Linda has been a member of the Rotary Club of Honolulu since 1987 and has served in various leadership roles, including being the first woman District Governor to lead Rotarians statewide in 2000-01. Besides traveling worldwide to serve and speak on behalf of Rotary International, Linda devotes her time to Kids Voting Hawaii, the Hawaii Family Support Institute and Family Programs Hawaii. She is married to Kirk Matthews, her husband of 25 years, who works as anchor for the KHON TV 2 Morning News. |
