EAST HONOLULU ROTARIANMarch 5th, 2007HRYF FUNDRAISERHRYF 30th Anniversary Scholarship Fundraiser is set for April 15, 2007 at the Hawaii Theatre. The Hawaii premiere of “Ray of Sunshine” features Nancy Kwan in her most challenging role. Please help promote and sell tickets.a. $175 VIP Reception Tickets: A limited number of VIP reception tickets includes a group picture with Nancy Kwan, VIP seating for the movie premiere, heavy pupus, 2 drinks, free parking at the Plaza Club for the reception and movie, and for Hawaii Theatre restoration fee. $115 of the ticket price will count toward your HRYF donation. Contact HRYF office (735-1073) directly for VIP tickets. HRYF office will pick up the tickets and mail it to you after your check is received. b. $28 Movie Tickets are available at the Hawaii Theatre box office at 1130 Bethel St., Honolulu, HI 96813 and online at http://www.hawaiitheatre.com (tickets purchased online require payment of “convenience fees”). Seating is based on availability only. Children under 4 are not permitted. $18 of the ticket price will count toward your HRYF donation. Calls for tickets from the HRYF office must accompany your payment by March 20th if you want the HRYF office to pick-up your tickets and mail it to you or your club representative.Please help promote ticket sales and plan to attend this premier event with Nancy Kwan in attendance for Hawaii Rotary Youth Foundation Scholarship! HRYF 2007 SCHOLARSHIP FACTSAmount for the 2007 scholarships are as follows: - $2,000 to any student going to auniversity in Hawaii (was $1,000 and $1,500 in prior years)
- $5,000 students going to mainlanduniversity (was $3,500 in prior years)
- $8,000 for one Maurice J. SullivanScholar (was $5,000 in prioryears)
This year, area selections will be made on March 28th from the pool of applications and sent to the HRYF office for final selection on April 4th. In 2006, HRYF awarded 96 scholarships for $302,500. Almost every club had at least one applicant receiving a scholarship. Since its inception 30 years ago, HRYF has awarded a total of 1,125 scholarships totaling $3,479,263.
