PRE-HOLIDAY EVENT
Gary Bowersox will host a Pre-Holiday/Fundraising Party on Friday, November 16, 2007 and is inviting all Rotarians to attend. Details are as follows:

ANNUAL FUN FAIR for PALOLO SCHOOL
November 8, 2007 (Thursday)
1:30 PM - 5:00 PM (school dismissed at 1:30 PM)
Needed: Baked goods, white elephant items, clothing, small appliances, household items (pots, pans, dishes, toaster, etc) and food ingredients such as butter, flour, sugar for baked goods. Volunteers are needed to assist the teachers in various areas. Donations for white elephant and clothing are being accepted now.
Park at the school cafeteria and inform the office of your contributions. The staff will pick up your donation. You can get a receipt for tax purposes. Contact Elsie Choy at ECHOY002@hawaii.rr.com for more information.

Congratulations to Kevin Wu, who was inducted into the Rotary Club of East Honolulu on 10/15/07 under the vocational classification “Nursing”. Kevin’s sponsor is Al Takata. Kevin is the outreach coordinator at Palolo Chinese Home. His main tasks are to take care of anything considered outside of the Home. Outreach includes everything from the initial screening and visitation for the home’s Doctor House Call Program, signing up seniors for Meals to go/Meals on Wheels, to Marketing and Volunteers, to representing PCH at Neighborhood Board Meetings, and coordination of booth at Events and Fairs. Currently, Kevin also screens and admits clients/residents to the Adult Day Care, Care Home & Nursing Home, as well as assists in Resident Care Plans, Care Plan Audits, and Disaster Planning. Congratulations to Ke Kai Kealoha, who was inducted into the Rotary Club of East Honolulu on 10/22/07 under the vocational classification “Jewelry - Wholesale”. Ke Kai’s sponsor is Faye Ross. Ke Kai is the co-owner of a business called 3 Pearls International, which produces, markets, and sells pearls and signature gems from exclusive sources throughout the remote South Pacific. She has experience in water desalinization process and is looking forward to contributing to Rotary projects. Ke Kai credited Faye Ross for inspiring her to join the family of Rotary.
Dr. Sarah Park was the guest speaker on 10/22. Dr. Park is the Deputy Chief of the Disease Outbreak Control Division at the Hawaii Department of Health
Sponsor Faye Ross, new member Ke Kai Kealoha, Jim Morris and is a board certified pediatric infectious disease specialist. She spoke about her experience with polio eradication in Kenya, in her capacity as a volunteer for the World Health Organization.
ANNOUNCEMENT: Nominations are now being accepted for the 2008-09 Board, which will be under the presidency of Bruce Monahan. Rotary offers something for everyone, and active member participation is the lifeblood of Rotary. Please consider taking a leadership position in the club by serving as a director or officer for the 2008-09 Rotary year.
