Service Above Self is Rotary's principal motto. All Rotary Clubs are responsible for carrying out service projects that improve the quality of life in their community and communities around the world.

A successful service project

Has specific, realistic goals with measurable results
Responds to identified needs
Incorporates the abilities of those served
Recognizes the importance of all participants' contributions
Uses available resources effectively
Builds networks for future service projects

Listed are a few of the many ways the Rotary Club of East Honolulu serves the community.

Sponsors of Local Youth Programs
Thousands of people ages 30 and younger participate in Rotary programs to learn skills that will help them become future leaders. Youth programs allow participants to discover more about themselves and the world by participating in community projects, leadership training, or cultural exchanges. Young people also learn about the principles of ethics, service, and fellowship that Rotarians exemplify. Rotoract and Interact are two of the Rotary International programs that the club sponsors.

The Rotary Club of East Honolulu sponsors Chaminade University's Rotoract Club as well as Kalani High School's Rotoract Club.

Form partnerships with both local and international Rotary Clubs to assure that large projects get accomplished.

2009 - 2010

12 clean water systems were established in Northern Thailand, Phrae Province in partnership with the Rotary Club of East Honolulu, Rotary Club of Wiengkosai Thailand, Rotary Club of Waikiki and the Rotary Club of South Hilo.

Assisted in the building and supplying of AV equipment computers and books to the Jaroensil Elementary School in the Phrae Province of Thailand.

"Operation Soccer Ball" in partnership with Hawaii Air National Guard deployed in Iraq, provided soccer balls with the message of "Play instead of War"

Support Rotary International's commitment of global polio eradication
