Educational Programs

These programs are designed to promote international understanding by bringing together people from different countries and cultures:
- Ambassadorial Scholarships: the world's largest, privately funded scholarship program. Scholars study in another country serving as unofficial ambassadors of goodwill. In 2003-04, 827 scholars studied in 60 countries. Awards were $16.5million.
- Rotary World Peace Fellowships: Each year up to 70 scholars at the mastersÐdegree level study for 2 years at one of 7 Rotary Centers in peace and conflict resolution. In 2003-04, 62 new scholars studied abroad. Grants totaled $3.9 million.
- Rotary Peace and Conflict Fellowship: awarded to individuals for a short-term certificate program in Thailand.
- Group Study Exchange (GSE): a 4-6week cultural and vocational exchange program between districts in different countries. In 2003-04, 426 teams traveled abroad. Program awards were $2.9 million.
- Rotary Grants for University Teachers: for higher education faculty to teach abroad in an academic field of practical use to people in a developing country. These grants are for 3- to 10-months and are sponsored by districts that have allocated funds.
