Membership

Membership
The Club is the cornerstone of Rotary and are responsible for four key elements: sustaining/increasing the membership base, participating in service project that benefit their own community and those in other countries, supporting The Rotary Foundation of RI financially and through program participation, and developing leaders capable of serving in Rotary beyond the club level. What a Rotarian gets out of Rotary depends largely on what you put into it.

Attend weekly club meetings and enjoy the club's fellowship and enrich your professional and personal knowledge. If you miss all or more than 40% of a meeting, you can attend make-up meetings at any club in the world within 14 days before or after the missed meeting. To find a club, use the Club Locator at www.rotary.org. You can also make up a missed meeting by attending: a Rotaract or Interact club meeting, a Rotary Fellowship, a RI convention, a District Conference or Assembly, a club service project or club-sponsored community event, a club Board meeting, a service committee meeting. You can also make up meetings online by spending at least 30 minutes at: www.rotaryeclubone.org. They will send a confirmation to the Club Secretary (hryf @ hawaii.rr.com).

To continue to be a member in good standing, you must attend or make up at least 60% of the club regular meeting in each half of the year and not fail to attend or make up four consecutive regular meeting. The Club shall not express an opinion on any pending controversial public measure, shall not endorse or recommend any candidate for public office and shall not adopt nor circulate resolution relating to world affairs or international policies.

To keep clubs strong, every Rotarian should share in the responsibility of bringing new people into Rotary. A completed "How to Propose a New Member" form is and submitted to the Board for consideration and then to the membership for review before being inducted formally into the Club.

Rotary is on a fiscal year, beginning in July. Club dues are currently $250 annually, payable in January and July. In addition, we suggest a minimum of $150 annual donation to the Rotary Foundation and a $100 donation to the Hawaii Rotary Youth Foundation. You can view your contribution history online ("Member Access" at www.rotary.org.) To register, put in District #5000, Club #11 and your Membership ID # (ask Club Secretary).

Other voluntary contribution categories are:
  • Rotary Foundation Sustaining Member Recognition for giving $100+ annually to the Programs Fund
  • Paul Harris Fellow Recognition for $1,000+ cumulative contribution to the Annual Programs Fund
  • Benefactor Recognition for giving $1,000 to the Foundation's Permanent Fund via your will or estate plan
  • Multiple Paul Harris Fellow Recognition for additional contributions of $1,000 to $9,000 total
  • Rotary Foundation Bequest Society Recognition for a gift of $10,000+ per person or couple to the Permanent Fund via a provision in an estate plan or a whole or universal life insurance
  • Major Donor Recognition given to a donor who contributes cumulatively $10,000 or more (6 levels)
  • Rotary Hall of Honor portrait of donor contributing cumulatively $250,000+ to be hung at the World Headqrtrs
  • 100% Paul Harris Fellow Club Recognition is given to clubs with 100% of its members as Paul Harris Fellows.

Rotary Recreation and Vocational Fellowship: Rotarians and spouses who share common interests have found fun, friendship, broader knowledge, world understanding and service within these fellowships. These 80 common-interest international fellowships have both mirrored and enriched the spirit of fellowship that every Rotary club enjoys. As it has ever been, the chief appeal of the fellowships is the opportunities for meeting individuals worldwide. Every fellowship has some sort of forum for interaction, but means of encounter differ widely, reflecting the nature of each fellowship. The International Computer Users communicate "on-line," members of the Magna Graecia Fellowship meet at sites of the civilization of ancient Greece, and many vocational fellowship members keep in touch through newsletters designed to share trade information and professional advice. For information, go to www.rotary.org and pull up the "global Networking Groups" form.
